Introduction

The course of the study will focus on the corporate social responsibility. The study will analyze the corporate social responsibility and its different aspects. A.G. Barr is a British based soft drink company that manufactures, distributes and sells soft drinks under the brand names such as (Tizer, IRN-BRU, D'N'B, Barr's Originals, KA, Red Kola, St Clements juice drinks, Strathmore Spring Water, Simply juice drinks, Sun Exotic and Rubicon exotic juice drinks). The group also provides the partnerships brands like Rockstar and Orangina. Generally the company is operating in two major business segments carbonates and still drinks and water. A.G. Barr was formed in the year 1875, when Robert Barr started Barr's soft drinks business in Falkirk. In 1887, Robert Fulton Barr started a second Barr Soft Drinks business in Glasgow which was taken over by Andrew Greig Barr in 1892.

In 1901, the company launched IRON BREW brand. The limited company was formed and named as A.G. Barr & Co. in 1904. In 1947, the company's IRON BREW was renamed as IRN-BRU. In 1959, A.G. Barr & Co. purchased Robert Barr Ltd. The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange and became a public company, A.G. Barr in 1965. A.G. Barr maintains a good past record relating to the participation in the corporate social responsibility programs. The company treats corporate social responsibility as a part of their own identity and they believe in “making profit with the customers, not from the customers”. The operations director of the company, Andrew Memmott says that corporate social responsibility is amongst the seven core areas of their corporate strategy.

Discussion

A.G. Barr is engaged in manufacturing, distributing and selling soft drinks under the flagship of IRN-BRU, Rubicon, Strathmore, KA, St Clements's, Findlay's, Vitsmart and Taut brands. The company primarily operates in the UK, where it is headquartered in Cumbernauld and employs around 1,016 people. The company's portfolio of products includes carbonated drinks, bottled waters, juice drinks and still and fruit juices. Carbonated soft drinks include sparkling juices, colas, mixers, tonic and bitter drinks, shandy and flavored waters among others. The type of water offered by the company comprises spring water and table water. Additionally, the company also offers sports and energy drinks.
