Introduction

Flu is a type of influenza virulent in birds. It was first identified in Italy in the early 1900s and is now known to exist worldwide. These influenza viruses occur naturally among birds. Wild birds worldwide carry the viruses in their intestines, but usually do not get sick from them. However, avian influenza is very contagious among birds and can make some domesticated birds, including chickens, ducks, and turkeys, very sick and kill them.

Description of agency

Esperanza Center is a non-profit organization community service center which is located on Broadway in Baltimore, Maryland. They stated their missions are to provide healing and care to those in need at programs for vulnerable children and adults throughout Maryland, to educate people to social awareness and motivate them to act, and advocate for public policy that ensures a just society.

Purpose/Mission & Services They Provide

The services they provide are: Immigration Legal Services:

They represent any immigrant matter with low-cost for 170 different nationalities, but majority is Latino populations. The fee for a consultation is $70 and fee waivers are available for individuals with exceptional circumstances.

Healthcare Services:

The center collaborates with some local hospitals and some medical schools to provide high-quality health care services to the Latino and immigrant community. Physicians are who speak bilingual in English and Spanish available every Monday and every third Saturday, but schedules can be changed by season and by physician's availability. The Volunteer Healthcare team provides well child care by pediatric doctor, Family mental health care, Preventative dental care, Adult primary care, Ophthalmology, and Neurology. Moreover, the center provides Eyeglass clinic, TB and sexually transmitted disease screenings Immunization and lead testing. Social workers are available to client and their family for their health plan and coverage. As the advocate for the client and his/her family, the social worker will consider everyone's needs and suggest appropriate programs to each individual clients. Most of the Volunteers and Social workers can speak Spanish too. The office visit fee is $10.00, but if they do not any money, they do not have to pay. Payment is not mandatory; they just can pay for the donation.

Community Services: The center provides community services for new immigrants: Finding Jobs, Translation, Community education, Information and referrals to other programs and organizations. Also, they educate new immigrant how to pay their bills and how the United

States financial system functions.

English Classes: The center has English Second Language programs throughout the day on weekdays and weekends by alternate level systems. Approximately, 99% of the clients who visit this center are Hispanic who speaks Spanish dominant. ESL classes have more flexible schedule than health care clinic. The fee for the class is only $20.00 for one year. Also, the English teachers are all volunteers from Baltimore community. A lot of new immigrants take this ESL classes to associate with new friends because they have no many friends.
