Forensic entomology is the use of insects and other arthropods that inhabit decomposing remains to aid legal investigations. Can be divided into three areas: medical, urban, and pests of stored products. A second area called urban addresses insects that affect humans and their environment. The urban area has two civil and criminal, because the insects feed on the living and the dead. The final product is stored and the insects found in food. The entomologist can check for errors of any kind of food contamination that may have occurred. The history of forensic entomology first came about in 1235 AD by a Chinese "death investigator" named Sung Tzu. He wrote a book entitled The Washing Away of grievances about forensic science. The use of Forensic Entomology is quickly becoming recognized and accepted as a valid form of forensic identification. While some problems were found with the method, many police departments want to add to their use to solve the crime in its arsenal. Some people can not understand how a simple error can be used to solve a crime. However, forensic entomology has been documented and proved very effective in solving crime. However, more restrictive, forensic entomologists working through investigations into the death of invertebrates such as beetles, moths, and especially bowflies to help determine the time and place of death. Forensic entomologists collect adult insects, larvae and eggs found in the bodies to determine if a death occurred and whether the body was moved. With the strides that science is making progress, I believe that every police station will soon have a forensic entomologist. It is widely believed that forensic entomology is used only in the last decade; however this is not the case.
