Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass thought about the Civil War as unnecessary way to end slavery, but the thought of him as a great opportunity to end it. Douglas once said: "To be free themselves must strike". Here he says that you should participate and fight for their beliefs in order to earn them. He was transferred to enlist African-Americans from the north of New York as soldiers to fight for their freedom. Frederick Douglass took an important role in the freedom of slaves in the South.
