Gambling as a definition means wagering of money or something of material value on a happening with an uncertain result with the main intent of winning additional money or material goods. This can happen everywhere and at anytime. Although, gambling as an industry is confined to certain locations or activities, usually by law and public policy. With legalized gambling being generally location specific, the ability of the internet to expand the reach of services provides new opportunities to offer gambling to a wider market. The casino segment contributed revenues of $1.1 billion in 2009, equating to 3.7% of the sector's aggregate revenues. The performance of the sector is forecast to accelerate, with an anticipated CAGR of 7.3% for the fiveyear period 2009-2014, which is expected to drive the sector to a value of $41.6 billion by the end of 2014. Comparatively, the French and German sectors will grow with CAGRs of 7% and 4.6% respectively, over the same period, to reach respective values of $16.8 billion and $23.1 billion in 2014.
