In the research article “The Effects of Written Teacher Feedback on the Academic Achievement of Fifth-Grade Students with Learning Challenges”, teacher feedback is an important aspect of any kind of classroom of any level. However, the feedback of teacher to student is reduced due to tough time management. Lisa Siewert examined the type and the need for teacher feedback students with difficulties in learning. The method for analysis is in the form of teacher feedback in writing. She took 22 fifth-grade students School City 5 sentences to rewrite and revise and capitalize. Siewert concluded that the teacher written comments no harm to student self-esteem, but also a positive impact on the performance. The findings are consistent with previous studies on the need for information and comments on the impact of self-esteem of students with learning difficulties. The researcher provides the concept of different types of feedbacks including verbal feedback, corrective feedback and written feedback. She also discusses the affects of feedback on student's self esteem.

The procedure of the research includes observation of written assignments of the participant students. The students participated for this research project was fifth-grade students who were attending a Title I school in an urban city in the southeastern region of the United States. The researcher used four methods of data collection to study the intervention made my written feedback. The first source was anecdotal notations. The data collection was through sampling of completed sentences used in the trial. Interview by students is the third approach of data collection. The fourth and final data source was observing and collecting writing samples from students. Thus this makes a combination of quantitative and qualitative data collection method.

Quantitative methods measure, determine the number or use a questionnaire with questions to which answers are coded and subjected to numerical analysis. To characterize the whole population based on data from a limited number of questions and obtained in a study of a large number of people or examples. Allow to reveal significant differences in population characteristics or factors influencing it. Reveal statistically significant relationships between the problem and its obvious cause (Creswell, 2003). Qualitative methods help to examine the in depth problem on the example of a relatively small sample of people. Qualitative methods are flexible. They use open-ended questions, and analysis of the results is carried out in the course of data collection. With systematic use of qualitative methods give equally reliable and objective results as the quantitative.

Qualitative methods are sometimes unable to avoid superficiality, bias and error. If you need accurate estimates of relations or, better data will be insufficient. Tools developed to test and apply the following standardized procedures. Rigid definition of issues for research and tools ensures the quality and the ability to compare outcomes.
