Generation X

Introduction

The world in which we live today is full of different types of people. These different types of people belong to different regions, cultures and society. They also differ from one another on the basis of their age. People can be classified into different generations on the basis of their ages. We all know that there are different generations exist. This includes Generation X, Generation Y, and baby boomers. The aim and objective of this paper is to talk about the generation X. The following part of the paper discusses generation X from variegated perspectives.

Discussion

These people were born between 1962 and 1980. They grew up with the philosophy of Ronald Reagan, with the music of Michael Jackson and sitting on supermarket carts while parents were shopping. From very young they showed a great contradiction with the thinking, saying and doings of their parents. They were multiracial and disappointed about anything. They grew up with television in their homes and the philosophical reflections of the leaders of their days as well as identified with the comforts of a materialistic world fashion conglomerate with bold contrast to their parents "baby boomers" who grew up in a power generation political and technological progress the school about nuclear weapons is concerned. Generation X does not appear that they had many ideals or political philosophies. They focused much on the use of drugs, fashion and debauchery. Most of them grew up in the middle class with some comfort so do not bother to study and settled for low-wage jobs allowing them to live doing the minimum effort (Stonehouse, 2011).

The preference of Members of Generation X

People of the Generation X prefer to eat pizza, fast food, hamburgers, hot dogs in front of the TV and smoking cigarettes while watching a concert or a movie comedy or dramatic genre. They are quite self-centered and some are more concerned about vanity than for the same children. They move in groups and go to events where they lose their identity. Some are rebels and engaged in acts of vandalism. Others, who have chosen the world of drugs they take refuge in the euphoria that gives them a dose of ecstasy that makes them feel the center of the world (Douglas, 2001).

Families of Generation X

In this generation the role of people in the traditional family has changed. Generation X is used to being less male dominated and women work outside the home alike. It is not unusual for this generation to be a single woman with children is considered a complete family. Mothers and wives of this generation work outside the home and it is not a strange thing for them. Families are much smaller than those of previous generations. University education of women is nothing to be surprised in this generation. This women's liberation decreased the number of children conceived by families and increased the number of divorces.
