1. Introduction

An agreement between two individuals: An agreement, or compact, to promise by a Covenant. There are several incidences of "Covenants" in the Bible, and we will examine some of these individually.

Psalm 25:14 reads, "The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant Known to them.”

The Bible in a sense is a covenant book; it speaks of historic events, but also speaks of the theology of purpose: we know by reading, studying, and understanding, the Scriptures what is predictable of us, and by doing so; we come to understand [what] will be our reward if we conduct ourselves accordingly, in short; a "COVENANT," a promise by God virtually can be found upon every page of the Bible! The legalese of the covenant [bond] is particularly unique; when it relates to entering into an agreement with God, because in an agreement between two individuals (humans), either party may be capable of breaking the agreement (defaulting) as it were; however, when one enters into a covenant with God.

The human element is the only [breakable] link in the legalistic chain: God always fulfills "His" end of the agreement. A covenant with God is immutable, and ancient covenants between men and nations were always sealed with blood, as we now realize; the life of any animal is in the blood, hence the covenant was sealed with blood, and was only discharged due to the death of one of the participants. Interesting point: that the Jew word for compact, Berit translates, "to cut," this is most interesting: the figs of many nations contain the color red; which is to denote, "the forging together of the people, even unto death." The scars of the two participants were left as perpetual reminders of the agreement; these cuts were [not] the little pin pricks, one sees portrayed in the ceremonies of a motion picture. This was an act ordained by God from the beginning, as God entered into a "Covenant" with man from the very beginning. Let us look at the Edenic Covenant.

2. The Edenic Covenant

From the first word of Genesis, we see all matter, energy, and the great God time to prepare for the creation of Kim and his place. We do not see him Creative play, or any deputy Genesis 1:26ff, "Then God said. Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature ...
