In the movie "Girl, Interrupted", these were tailored from the original journal by Susanna Kaysen. Set in 1960, with regard to her experiences during her stay in a psychiatric hospital after diagnosed with borderline personality disorder after attempting suicide. Many films include characters with mental illness, the actors who played these characters have a huge task to remain faithful to the disease they represent.

The most important character in "Girl Interrupted” was Susanna Kaysen, which was played by Winona Ryder. Susanna Kaysen had borderline personality disorder. According to the Clinical Psychiatry News, (2003) border personality disorder is a widely accepted model of instability in relationships, self-esteem and affects, and marked impulsivity. Individuals with this disorder tend to make desperate attempts to avoid real or imagined abandonment and intolerance of solitude, they also have the structure of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by extremes of idealization and devaluation. She is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, and she did not even know what that means. She hold a year in hospital. Despite the fact that she is going to different patients, and experience many difficult times. First, she does not want to cooperate, because she did not understand why it should be there. But she soon learns that it has to cope and learn to follow rules in order to quit if she anticipated. (Knight Ridder Newspapers, 1993)

Susanna Way in borderline personality disorder are presented in Girl Interrupted mainly related to the actual facts of the disease. In the film, Susanna engaged in sexual intercourse with a man much older, who is married, and while in the hospital, she is involved in two sex acts on the same day with two different people.
