Head Basketball Coach for a College

Executive Summary

This project aims to analyse the job of a basketball coach of a college. For that purpose an interview has been conducted with an expert of basketball to identify the task and KSAO (Kowkedge, Skills, Activities and others) for the head basketball coach. While doing this project I have learned how to develop job description and specification for a job vacancy as a HR personnel. Finally I have recommended that a head basketball coach should bear a good character, should delegate authority, have management skills, and hold the ability to think strategically.

Purpose and Client Organization

The purpose of this report is to conduct a job analysis for a job profile 'Head Basketball Coach for a College'. On the professional and college levels, head basketball coaches often earn big bucks and major fame. That's not the case, though, for high school coaches, who often do the job for nothing more than love of the game (DeCenzo & Robbins, p. 47). While the requirements for high school basketball coaches are far less demanding than those of their collegiate or pro peers, there are some common characteristics shared by successful ones. The client is RX HR consultants, based in California (CA), United States. The client needs a thorough job analysis to recruit a new coach for the California's Basketball association. For building up this job analysis, I interviewed, Kevin. D, a retired basketball coach at county's level.

Question: Hello, How are you. Sir, I want to ask few questions about your profession, can I?

Answer: Hi, I am good! Sure you can.

Question: Why Do You Coach?

Answer: I coach because I love the impact I can make in a players life, and that is not just on the court but in their life as a whole. Coaching is a passion you either love it or you don't there really is no in between. I love the preparation for games and practices and the idea that you never know it all in this game and when you think you do then it is time to stop because you have lost your love.

Question: Can you tell us what sorts of skills are required for a basketball coach?

Answer: in my point of view, basketball skills covers each and every fundamental — how to perform them properly, drills to execute and practice, coaching points you can use to help in teaching, and more ideas and thoughts.

Coach know how to properly teach skills such as ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding, etc… basketball coach should be able to handle several team offenses and team defenses he can easily and successfully incorporate into the program.

Question: well, what steps should be followed while recruiting a high school basketball coach?

Answer: I my opinion and what my experience calls for, following steps should be followed:
