Introduction

The modern era has brought a substantial increase in the requirement of accountability, cost control and effectiveness of public programs. Health Education programs too need to be evaluated to check whether the above mentioned parameters are being met or not. A number of social and behavioral theories are relevant to this subject. The purpose of such evaluations is to ascertain whether the employed efforts justify the results; this, in return, would aid in making the required changes for further improvement in the relevant areas. However, this paper intends to explore the area of mental health, particularly the state of depression. In recent times, every one person out five is suffering from depression. Thus, there is a strong need to carry out a health education program on depression.

Mental health affects quality of life and also is often a subject of disparity. It therefore plays a central role in both of the goals of Healthy People. Neuropsychiatric disorders are the most important causes of disability in all regions. Depression is the leading cause of disability for both men and women. Depression and other mental disorders are projected to remain on the list of the leading causes of death and disability in the following decades (Rollnick S, Mason P & Butler C, 2009).

Discussion

Depressive states are the major causes of suicide reactions in subjects because there is a potential suicide rate due to this. It is said that depression always appears a fault in the tone neuropsychological psychic, either temporary or lasting. This is a symptomatic state and not a normal situation (Beck, 2009).
