Population and the Demographics of Highland Park Illinois

Highland Park is a city located in Lake County in the state U.S. of Illinois. In the 2010 census, it had a population of 29763 inhabitants and a population density of 939.47 persons per km². Out of this, 91% of the urban population is white, 1% are black, 0.08% are Native American, 2% are Asian, 3% are other groups. 8% are Latino. 27% of the population were under 18 years of age, 30% were older than 65 years 18 to 44 years, 27% from 45 to 64, and 15%. The median age was 41 years.

Highland Park is located at coordinates 42 ° 10'58 "N 87 ° 48'35" W. According to the Census Bureau of the United States , Highland Park has a total area of 31.68 km ² , of which 31.6 km ² belong to the mainland and (0.27%) 0.09 km ² is water.

The Ravinia Music Festival, at which the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is resident during the summer months, is held on a large site in Highland Park originally set up in 1905 as an amusement park. Settled in 1834, the city was established as a wealthy suburb by the turn of the 20th century.

The Ravinia Festival takes place in Highland Park. This Festival was intended for beginning as a cultural programme of the village of Ravinia, later, the village was however incorporated into the town of Highland Park and thus the Ravinia Festival as a celebration of Highland Park. Ravinia was originally an artist enclave; Despite the inclusion in the community of Highland Park she has kept the character, which is characterized by the simple lifestyle.
