Research Title

The title for this dissertation is about the factors that help or hinder alcohol abstinence following detoxification.

Abstract/Summary

Alcoholism can be defined as a progressive disease in which a person craves alcohol and suffers from alcohol related problems. Alcoholism can be as a result of poor psychological condition, it can be genetic or as a result of cultural influences. Although alcohol is a legal drug but its addiction can give rise to various problems such as social as well as psychological issues. The objective of this study is to determine patient's knowledge of detox before embarking on the treatments. To make recommendations that will be based on the findings. This research will help in analyzing different factors in reference to alcohol detoxification and help in devising methods to overcome hindrance

Personal Reflection

This research will be helpful for enhancing my knowledge and it will be helpful in developing my objective research skills. Furthermore, this research would also be helpful in providing pragmatic solutions regarding the problems emerging in the society. Similarly, it will also help in understanding those who are suffering from this menace and it will also help to solve their problems more effectively.

Background

Although alcohol is a legal drug but its addiction can give rise to various problems such as social as well as psychological issues. Alcoholism is divided according to the degree of harm it provides. It should be detected at early stage as to how to deal with this problem (Guebaly, 2007, p.S55). As prevention at an early stage can be a great help for the addicted person. Alcohol withdrawal occurs when there is a declining blood levels in alcohol. Sedative hypnotics such as alcohol are known for its propensity to persuade physiological dependence. Alcoholism is a serious disease that affects the individual his family and the society. Alcohol remains the number one drug problem throughout the world. It would be a serious mistake to consider alcoholism an incurable disease. Alcoholism is a social evil which give rise to bad influence in the society and harms the individual psychologically as well as mentally (Jaeger, Lohr, Pankratz, 2001, p.695).
