The historical figure who has most leveraged me is Nelson Mandela. My esteem for him is fixed in my high school days in Lexington, Kentucky, in the mid-1970s. Studying U.S. History, I was enthralled by the Reconstruction time span, and the inquiry of how one can or should conceive communal change. That was crucially significant to me since Lexington, and America, were grappling with matters of racial integration and equality.
