HIV, HPV and HERPES in third world countries

Introduction

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the most widespread form of STD. About more than 40 categories of 40 HPV can infect the males and female genital areas. Heart problems do not occur in most cases of HPV and within two years the body's immune system can clear up the HPV traces in 90 percent of the cases (Williams, 2004). HIV is the human immune-deficiency virus. It's one of the most deadly viruses which leads to a deficiency in the immune system also known as the immune deficiency syndrome, or as some might call it, Aids. According to the CDC, about 56000 people in 2006 in the US were contracted with HIV. (CDC NPIN & STDs, n.d.). Herpes Simplex Virus causes a contagious viral infection known as Genital Herpes. There are found to be two sorts of Genital Herpes, HSV 1 and HSV 2 infection. Because herpes can go un-detected or not caught while someone has it, it is very easily transferred through others without any knowledge of it happening. This paper discusses about diseases like HIV, HPV and Herpes which go unnoticed in the third world countries due to their symptoms being mild and gets overseen (Wheeler and Davies, 1994).

Discussion

The most obvious cause of HPV is being passed on through a genital contact which happens in most cases during genital to genital and sex contact. Mouth and throats also have the tendency to get infected. Genital wart is the most recognizable symptom of HPV infection and is caused by a low risk category of HPV. Cervical and other genital cancers are caused by other high risk categories of HPV (Stromquist, 1998). There are vaccines can help protect against some common types of HPV and these vaccines are most effective when given in advance before the person could be exposed to HPV (CDC NPIN & STDs, n.d.).

466,000 women around the world were reported to build up cancer in their cervical each year, and about 225,000 women expire from the disease. 80-85% of these deaths occur in third world countries. The single most important reason that cervical cancer remains so deadly in these regions is women's lack of access to the cervical cancer screening programs which lack in these third world countries (Dailard, n.d.).

Some people develop flu like symptoms with in a few days of being infected with the HIV which lasts for a week or two, at the same time some people were found to have no symptoms at all. These people may appear healthy even for several years, however even if they seem healthy, they body still gets affected by HIV and they should be seen on a regular basis by some experienced health care provider who treats HIV infection (CDC HIV/AIDS, n.d.).

Among all low and middle-income countries, HIV prevalence is strongly correlated with falling calorie consumption, falling protein consumption, unequal distribution of national income and, to a lesser extent, labor ...
