HIV in Africa

Introduction

AIDS has become since the advent of the first cases in the early eighties, in a major public health problems worldwide. Despite promising results with protease inhibitors and drug combinations in the treatment of persons infected with HIV is not likely that a vaccine or other treatment to reach definitely effective cure of the infection are available in the future next. So prevention is the most realistic strategy of behavior in the HIV epidemic (Epstein, 1996). Prevention policy very often has a base or general opinion rather than scientific, and therefore requires a better knowledge of the characteristics of infected patients to assess the best prevention programs and policies, taking into account the peculiarities of each area and its evolution over time. Every year many patients suffering from this disease lost their lives. Still, many of the people around the world are fighting with this disease. The researches have shown significant findings that the disease causes several psychological problems in the person. These psychological problems make the person feel uncomfortable in life and affect their self-esteem negatively. The paper also discusses the story of a person who has suffered with this fatal disease (Takebe et al., 2008).
