Chapter 1

Introduction

Homelessness is a devastating know-how for young kids and their families. The increase in homeless families over the past few years has meant a dramatic rise in the number of children who are living in shelters, campgrounds and motels (Buchner, Bassuk, Weinreb, et al., 1999:246). The upheaval these young kids experience means much more than not having a dwelling; the displacement strains virtually every facet of family life, impairing the personal and emotional wellbeing of family constituents, hindering with children's learning and development, and often resulting in the separation of family constituents (Buchner, et al., 1999:246).

Purpose Of The Study

Do determine how does the effect of the current recession differ from the events of the Great Depression? throughout the large despondency, the homeless were not blamed for their plight. For the most part, the homeless were those who could not find work and those who were disabled. Although the outcome for these assemblies was not good, they at least were not accused for the position that they were in.

America has not revitalized its firm pledge to a lawfully and effectively run Social Security Administration. Statement Of The Problem

Urban campers are dwelling a unsafe existence. Between the risks of mosquitoes, inclement weather, animals, thieves and worse, women living in urban camping situations are putting themselves at risk every day. Why do they holiday holiday holiday resort to this benchmark of living? easily because they have run out of options. Shelters are overcrowded, understaffed, or poorer yet closed.

Although the American government formulated plans to deal with these kinds of problems, FEMA now falls under the Homeland Security Department and the aim is absolutely not on the homeless. What would it cost to house a homeless person? What would it take to extend unemployment benefits, to renew commitments to America, to open low-cost HUD housing units, to again make Social Security Administration a law-abiding insurance carrier? It would take a commitment on the part of America that is all.

It would take the American leaders, the Senator and Congress, the White House and the Office of the Inspector General to initiate the changes necessary. The first step to democratic change is for the general public to demand it. Unfortunately the voice of the built-up campers is not enough, particularly when they are a assembly that is aghast to complain, aghast of the police, and aghast of more ...
