General History of Hospice

The Hospice of Palm Beach of County was founded between those eras of growth in 1978, as a not-for-profit organization. It has provided care for nearly 70,000 patients along with their families since its opening. About an average of 1,200 patients throughout Palm Beach County come through their doors daily. Stella Monchick-West was the founder of Hospice of Palm County on February 27, 1978. She was also the first director of the organization. (Hospice of Palm Beach County, Inc., 2010)

HPB offers a wide range of programs and services. This organization seeks to bring peace of mind to everyone that walk through their doors by providing programs and services that fit each individual's needs. “Their general programs and services include Palliative care Specialists, Hospice Physicians, caregiver guidance and support, bereavement counseling for children and adults, counseling on financial assistance and many others.” (Hospice of Palm Beach County, Inc., 2010) HPB is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. This means that it is a corporation that is specifically formed for charitable, religious, education, or scientific purposes.
