In today's world HR Professional focuses on securing, maintaining, and utilizing an effective work force, which organizations cannot survive without. HR Professional involves in a variety of activities, which include recruitment, and screening of prospective employees, the study of training needs, preparing forecasts, the development of compensation systems, and an understanding of the laws that effect the performance of these activities. The HR Professional function has evolved significantly since the early 1900s. The need to deal with labour unions and the human relations movement has increased the need for competent human resource professionals (William and Jennifer, 2005). This paper will attempt to describe the changing role of HR Professional management in response to trends in globalization, technology, diversity, e-business, and ethics (HR Professional: Courageous Follower and Leader, 2006).

In today's business environment Human Resource Professional responsibilities and roles are increasingly more extensive than that of the old personnel department use to have. The roles & responsibilities of HR Management have changed considerably in recent times. Many of these alterations have been in reaction to trends in technology, globalization, e-business, diversity and ethics. The influence of ethics and technology are not recent to HR managers or organizations. e-business, diversity and Globalization are phrases that were not even deemed until this precedent decade.

HR Professional now demand strong human relations skills such as communicating, negotiating and team development. In addition HR Professional also demand leadership skills to help them in the decision making process and technical skills to understand HR Professional computer systems. HR Professional are well managed it has the potential to improve the organizations competitive advantage by helping achieve basic objectives such as quality, profits, and customer satisfaction. Over the past decade HR Professional has a new face and the HR function is quickly gaining leverage as they help organizations deal in change management, business strategy, and customer service, and brand recognition, employee retention, in order to gain and sustain a competitive advantage on the competition. Human capital, an organizations employees, is the only, “Real sustainable competitive advantage that an organization possesses. As such, HR Professional is called on to apply, “New approaches to work process design, succession planning, career development and inter-organizational mobility (Robert, 2007).

Today's businesses are competing to gain and sustain a competitive edge like never before in history. Many organizations have turned to the internet to gain this advantage. E-Business has created many challenges for HR Professionals. The fast paced online environment calls for experts to attract, retain, and motivate employees. The responsibility of HR Professional is to develop policies which will translate into the flexible world of e-business. HR Professionals have to maintain a balance between legal compliance and accommodating, the unique needs of an unstructured and creative workforce (Robert, 2007).
