Is it possible for an organisation to manage its culture? Justify your answer.

Most of the organisation always try to manages its culture. Organisational culture can be defined as "The specific collection of values and norms that are shared by people and groups in an organisation and that control the way they interact with each other and with stakeholders outside the organisation".

Each and every organisation has its unique culture; this is usually formed unconsciously, based on the decisions of top management and the core personnel within the organisation. The actions of employees within an organisation are usually a result of not only their own thinking, but are largely influenced by the socialisation processes of the specific culture to which they belong.

Managers cultivate values and beliefs within an organisation, whether good or bad these factors are said to have importance upon the organisation's strategy and, in turn success. Cultural existences will also affect an organisation's ability to adapt to a changing business environment and grow.

Organizational culture, or corporate culture, comprises the attitudes, experiences, beliefs and values of an organization. It has been defined as "the specific collection of values and norms that are shared by people and groups in an organization and that control the way they interact with each other and with stakeholders outside the organization.

An organisation's culture is affected by a number of factors including:

The environment in which the organisation operates. Internally, this is often conveyed by its physical layout which can, foe example, reflect warm friendliness or cold efficiency.

The beliefs, values and norms of the employees within the organisation, particularly those communicated by top management.

The formal and informal leaders who personify the organisation's culture.

The procedures that have to be followed and the behaviour expected of people within the organisation.

The network of communications which disseminates the corporate image and culture.

Other factors could include the oeganisation's size , history, ownership and technology.

Ways to manage organizations its Healthy Organizational Culture

There are numerous attributes, roles and responsibilities that a leader must assume and perform in order to create and maintain a healthy organizational culture. The purpose of this paper is to provide two recommendations on how a leader would create and maintain a healthy organization. Following the recommendations, the author will give supporting information that is required of leaders roles and responsibilities. Many of the required attributes, which are required of an effective leader, are common sense. This paper will focus on two of the essential areas, ethics and harassment. These two areas are foundations, which any company must have in order to be a highly productive and a healthy organizational culture.

The maintenance of culture depends on the diligence of employees to uphold the values and visions of the company. However, new employees may not recognize the importance of the up-keep of the company culture.
