Thesis Statement

The contemporary world can still be described as an era of Racialised and Western Imperialism. Globalization, to some extent, is a modified form of imperialism.

Introduction

Vladimir Lenin had once said that imperialism could be concisely defined as the monopoly stage of capitalism. There is a strong association between Imperialism and Racism. It is quite impossible to separate both of the terms. However, Racism regarding its nature and expression has modified with time in its form and content. In 1930s, the term of racism came in to contemporary usage. In that period, racism made out vast and immense awareness as an ideological construct. According to Jan Nederveen Pietersie, the psychology of imperialism is racism. Racism is the strength of an empire, because it is the factor that justifies for the righteousness of an empire. Racism is not just an offshoot of empire, but it is more than that. (Pieterse, Jan Nederveen. 1990) According to Memmi, racism is not a supplementary aspect of colonialism (the realistic workings of imperialism), but a significant and the highest articulation of the colonial system and foundation of the profound inequity between imperial power and colonised natives.

To analyse the type of inter war imperialism; it is very necessary that race problem could be analysed along side. Race tension is considered to be as a bone of content of world conflicts and a significant feature in contemporary history therefore a global perspective is required for it. Just like the revival of imperialism in the contemporary world, the revival of racialisation is also a dreadful reality.

Goldberg has associated the in progress globalisation of racist culture to the collapse of liberal articulation of racial equality which has prevailed in the West since World War II. (Goldberg, 1993) Racism is still an indispensable element in the national identity of Britain.

Imperialism has strong nationalist overtones: the states that practiced systematically sought to conquer as much territory as possible in order to attain the rank of world powers. It therefore sought the cultural transformation of these areas as its political, economic and military. This process clearly acquired in the last third of the nineteenth century.

Europeans were, actually dupes of the initial Western European imperialism. Ireland turned in to a colony around 800 years back. Ireland was the first colony of British Empire and still a part of Ireland is occupied by Britain. Eastern Europeans were also among the early Caucasian victims. Western Europe accumulated capital through Eastern Europe and by the seventeenth century, Eastern Europeans ...
