Incompetent Rules of FAA to Manage Fatigue

Abstract

In this paper, I will focus on the weakness of rules made by Federal Aviation Administration for Federal Aviation Regulations to ensure the safety of air plane by preventing the air craft crew from fatigue. The regulations provided by Federal Aviation Administration to make the air traveling safe are not properly followed by air craft members which provide room for creation of fatigue. It is an establish fact that fatigue has potential to impair the performance of staff. There has to be a Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) which can further reduce the fatigue that can cause serious problems to plane and crew.

Incompetent Rules of FAA to Manage Fatigue

Introduction

In every walk of life there is less or high exposure of risk. Organization use to develop framework to mitigate and eliminate risk. Federal Aviation Administration use to develop rules for making traveling through air craft safer. There must be a thorough analysis in making rules regarding the safety of air traveling. It is a shared responsibility to keep air plane safe but air craft crew including pilot is primary responsible. They need to stay alert to keep plane under control but these individuals gives higher amount of efforts and time to make their operations successful. The operations create fatigue in the air craft crew which decreases the quality of output and make them exposed more to risk. They used to follow instructions and guidelines to stay alert and prevent fatigue. These guidelines are developed by FAA. They have very rigor procedures and methodology to make rules.

Research Questions

Despite rules provided by Federal Aviation Administration, it is a fact that air craft crew is facing problems due to fatigue. It means that there is something that is not incorporated in those rules and regulations. In this paper, I will elaborate causes of fatigue and impact of fatigue on crew's performance. I will brief that what is the level of effectiveness of current rules and regulations provided by FFA to prevent fatigue. The three research questions are as follows.

What are the reasons behind the fatigue problem among aircraft crew?

What is the impact of fatigue on crew performance?

To what degree FAA's current regulations address the risk of fatigue?

What are the reasons behind the fatigue problem among aircraft crew?

It is an establish fact that air craft crew experience fatigue problems during the working hours due to several reasons. The reasons could be health problems, diseases and long working hours. In this paper, I will focus on the problems that arise due to the working conditions. It is the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that defines, designs and responsible for making rules for Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). These rules are applicable on the air craft crew and have a potential impact on their performance. The first question of my research paper is to identify the real and true reasons or causes behind the fatigueless in air craft crew. There are several reasons behind the fatigueless among air craft crew ...
