Introduction

The paper aims to discuss the integration of technological advancements in classrooms. The paper describes four basic methods of improving classroom improvement by way of technological enhancements. It explains the impact of web on classrooms, types of online education in classrooms, web-enhanced classroom learning and distance education as the part of integrated technological learning experiences currently in use by various educational institutes.

Discussion

Science and technology in the classroom is an educational project, which promotes basic education students interested in learning the fundamental concepts of science and technology (Clark & Kwinn, 2007).

Apart form that, it also encourages the creative spirit that modernity demands, the main objectives to stimulate teaching and learning of science in educational institutions, scientific knowledge transfer experimentally, associate of science knowledge gained with their social environment, to develop research in science and technology in its broadest sense (Petrina, 2007). Technology is a structure and application of knowledge to achieve practical ends, introducing physical manifestations such as machine tools, but also intellectual techniques and processes used to solve problems and get results (Moersch, 1999).

Issues Involved in Technology

The importance of the medium—a computer network—is that it affords new paradigms for education and new modes of learning. We force the new media to do the work of the old. It should be no surprise, therefore, that most online courses today resemble a classroom both functionally and metaphorically. The history of online education, when written, will be the story of inventing new paradigms to exploit this medium (Cennamo, Ross, & Ertmer, 2009).

Another impact of using these technological tools in curriculum content is that it allows the information presented very differently than the traditional books. For starters, it contains complexities, wich makes it almost impossible to grasp. This encourages an active attitude of the student in front of the class and a sense of inferiority complex due to the fact that the student is unaware of the technological advancements (Schifter, 2008).

Some softwares, gadgets and technological concepts are beyond the understanding of a few students especially because they have never been exposed to such technology. This makes it difficult for them to understand the information being communicated. Thus, makes the purpose of teaching void, as the main aim of teaching, which lies in getting the knowledge to transfer to the students, becomes distorted (Brock, 2004).

Assessing Effective Technological Integration

The de-localization of the Web has made it possible to deliver rich and interactive digital media to the classroom or to the individual learner for a near zero marginal cost (Petrina, 2007). It makes possible new modes of communication that can enlarge the learning conversation and facilitate the collaborative construction of new knowledge. On the other hand, online education could lead to the increasing centralization and standardization of education. It could also increase the gap between rich and poor and marginalize the disenfranchised (Moersch, 1999).
