Intercultural Employee Motivation

Introduction

Living in the millennium of 21st century, where the world is leading to the success of technologies, advancements, inventions and discoveries, the demand for skilled labor is rapidly increasing day by day. Labor is the only man-made resource that plays a significant role in getting the final output ready for the final consumption of goods and services. Therefore, it is highly recommended to the organizations to establish advantageous relations with its labor so they are encouraged to produce effectively and efficiently.

Rick Pitino stated, "The only way to get people to like working hard is to motivate them. Today, people must understand why they are working hard. Every individual in an organization is motivated by something different." Indeed it is true as motivation is the basic incentive any employee is seeking. In the competitive industry of trade and commerce, employee motivation is boosting to avoid unhappy labor, the unhappy customers in other words.

It is highly appreciated and yet has become the need for companies to encourage the workforce at the workplace, but studies have shown that the employees are the victims of prejudice. These are the alarming factor that does bring conflicts between the employees as well as with the companies.

The central aim to practice motivation is to achieve a desired object, goal or sometimes the less obvious reasons such as personal satisfaction, the satisfaction of the motivation person (Devine, Plant. et.al. 1998).

Motivation is an employee's essential enthusiasm that forces him to achieve the activities related to work. Motivation is that internal force that causes an individual to decide to take action. These motivations are given to the workforce both inside and outside the organization. The motivation that is internally provided to the workforce is the prime concern that is facing the discrimination of behavior on the basis of gender, religion, caste and ethnicity. It transforms the inside satisfaction, the pride and the respect of the employee (Chan. 2000).

Intercultural Motivation

An employee is a precious asset for his workplace. A pool of employees who work at an organization may belong to a mix of ethnicities. He can be an American or an African, Japanese or an Iranian. It does not a matter of point. The culture plays a significant role in the motivation of employees. The intercultural biasness is the root that has developed unpleasant environments and the studies has shown that these are the causes of conflicts.

An individual's encouragement is persuaded by his academic and scholar, natural, social and emotional factors (Devine, Plant. et.al. 1998). He holds the same potential to ...
