Introduction

With the advancement of technology for the need of time and information, it has always been used for the purpose of entertainment. Internet is one of the major sources of information and entertainment. In today's modern technology every individual have an access to internet. With the need to provide more and more and entertainment to every individual there begin a competition and there are billions of sites which contains each and every type of content available for every one with the easy access. With the growing concern in the failure of internet policies for the contents, there arise problem with the censorship as it is always a question of freedom of speech and freedom of expression. There are always problems associated with the censorship because in case of censorship on internet there will be restrictions on some contents which might needed for a particular group of people who are allowed to visit those sites.

In these circumstances there are always arguments against and in favor of censorship depending on the users. There are various concerns associated for the censorship; one of the major arguments against internet is that it contains various adult contents which children must not view. Another major concern is the social values and promotion of wrong cultural and social aspects that has become more common. According to this argument, censorship is essential to prevent the increased pornography and social hatred. This requires that government should take measures to prevent these problems. With this, there are also worldwide growing measures for the filtering software. On the hand, there are various arguments against the censorship; one of the main arguments is that, it is against the right of freedom of speech. Another argument is that people consider it as the major obstacle in the process of progress. One more problem with censorship is that there is problem of privacy and personal matters. All these arguments are valid at their own place but the problem is still a major issue to be decided. Even that there is some prevention to access to those sites, but even then there is no permanent solution to it.

There are various reasons which provide grounds for the censorship of internet. One of the major reasons is that it contains material which is not suitable for the certain age groups especially children. According to Friedman one of the major issue in the censorship of the internet is that the internet contains adult material which the children must not allowed access to it. According to Friedman, the major issue is of the morality and the contents of the internet, which creates the problem for the children and this is the main argument that requires answer to the question whether there should be internet censorship or not (Friedman, 2000, p.25).
