Interpersonal Communication Project

Introduction

Interpersonal communication is not only a dimension of human life, but the dimension through which we as humans do. If a person does not maintain relationships, it threatens their quality of life." According to some authors, the principles of interpersonal communication are: "People communicate because that communication is necessary for psychological well-being. Communication is not only a human need but a means to satisfy many. Interpersonal communication skills should not be measured solely by the degree to which community behaviour helps to satisfy its individual needs, but also by the degree to provide the other the satisfaction of their own. “Interpersonal communications are therefore, a key issue in our lives, functioning not only as a means to achieve specific objectives, but as an end in it. So it should be clear that the promotion of interpersonal communication is not an optional task or may be left to chance.

Identification of an overarching goal (OAG) of life and definition of enlarging the conversation

The concept of an Overarching Goals is related to the corresponding basic idea or concept of the over goal or mission of an individual or on organization particularly. After taking this course, I want to implement whatever knowledge I have gained from this course and deliver it to others. I want to have strong communication skills, and for that, I have to become an effective listener. And this is my overarching goal. This has now become my goal, I want to take responsibility of situations, and manipulate their outcomes (Burley-Allen, 1995). I want to help others by using my talents hidden abilities.

Enlarging Conversation

With the help of applying my overarching goals, I can enlarge my conversation. Communication is very necessary, because all of our relationships depend upon conversation, we cannot communicate if we do not listen, enlarging of conversation clearly defines what we are, and what we do. Because it reflects, what we actually do and say. The enlarged conversation helps in strengthening relationships; actually they both are directly proportional to each other. Through enlarging conversation, I can communicate my overarching goals. For the promotion of dialogues, four D's are required Debate, Dialogue, Deliberation and Discussion (Stewart, 2009).

Influence of Background and Behavioural Blend (Positive and Negative)

It is very necessary that I have started the journey in order to enlarging the conversation by explaining what I am (Stewart, 2006). I can describe my self in a lot of ways. I am an independent individual, a respectable citizen, a student, an American. I believe in God and have firm faith on him. I want others to respect me as a member of Christian family. I am the combination of people person and detail person. These behavior blends do have positive and negative influences on me.
