Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant facts and figures relating to the Hilton Hotel and his owner. In this paper, we will conduct an interview with the owner Tom McCartney, in order to find out some in-depth information regarding Hilton Hotel.

Interviewing a Hotel Manager

According to Tom, it all started off in 1919. Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels has got in to this business by purchasing “The Mobley Hotel”, in 1919 in Cisco. Although the ownership had been transferred to Conrad, still the “Hilton” brand was not given to the hotel. Conrad decided to continue the business with same brand name “The Mobley”. In 1925, Conrad built another hotel in Dallas, Texas, but this time, he decided to give it a brand name “Hilton”. The hotel was known as “Dallas Hilton”. It was the first time that the brand “Hilton Hotels” came in to limelight. Afterwards, in 1954, Hilton Hotels taken over Statler Hotel chain, and became one of the largest hospitality businesses in the world (Enz, 2010).

When we asked Mr. Tom about the duration of his ownership, he stated that he has been a part of Hilton Hotel for 10 years. Tom has seen various ups and downs in the business, but determination and devotion with the work has enabled him to retain a good position in the hotel. He said that, there are around two hundred and fifty employees in the hotel that are set into all the managerial and resource level. When asked about the profit of the organization he told us that when he took over the business the business was not making profit as it is now (Kao, 1991). He said that he has implemented strategies to retain the customers and he believes in the customer satisfaction that attracted customers in the Hotel. When ask about the interest and his tenure he said that he has owned the business for ten years and he was always interested in hotel business where he could have interactions with diverse customers. He said that after completing his graduation he always wanted to become an entrepreneur.

Asking about their unique selling service he said that they believes in the customer satisfaction and for that they have spent their valuable time in the planning the strategies. They sell a comfort and luxurious temporary living with comprehensive facilities that any seven star hotels could give and a nominal price. He said, “We cater diverse customer anyone who wants to come to our hotel for stay we welcome them with our heart and soul.” Their major clients according to the owner are the corporate organization who registered as a member for their employees.
