Invasive Plants

Introduction

Plants that posses the ability to spread and thrive aggressively beyond its natural limits are usually referred as invasive plants. It is prominently invasive when it is introduced in a different habitat. A number of invasive plants are more intensified than others. Many invasive plants are usually adored by gardeners who are usually unaware of their uncontrolled nature. Others are renowned as weeds but it is observed that property owners are usually fail to take part in preventing them. There are few of them, which are not initially invasive in nature, but they become one, if they are neglected for a long period of time. Furthermore there are few of them, which don't grow very aggressively. It can be said that invasive organisms pose one of the major threats to the natural ecosystem of the United States of America and is considered as one of the factors that are destroying the natural identity and history of USA. Such plants are usually blamed for disrupting ecology, modifying and displacing the species of native plants. Such type of plants are also being criticized for reducing the overall availability of water and nutrients, reducing the amount of light and occupying the space that was available for natural species. Additionally, they are also blamed for tempering hydrological patterns, soil composition, retention capacity of moisture and erodibility. They plants are not always a result of deliberate plantations; in few cases, invasive plants grow purely by accident, mainly from the seeds that are found in agricultural products or on consignments that come from the overseas. On a positive note, invasive plants are usually selected because of their aesthetics and also for their horticultural attributes. Therefore it is normally found that such plants are usually sought by gardeners, around the world.

Historical Precedents

Historically, expatriates regularly brought species of plants with them from their native lands to various states of USA; few of them were bought accidentally while others were intentional. Some of them did unforeseen harm, while others had constructive outcomes in the form of food and horticultural crops. A lot of invasive plant troubles began, when decorative plants for retailing, by plant sales outlet and garden centers were sold. Today, alien and invasive pests, which also include plants, make their way into many states via commercial plant sales outlet, imports from various locations and national as well as international travel. Invasive plants regularly acquire a start up in regions that are disturbed by human behavior and activities such as roads, mining, logging, trails and other such activities, which result in removal of native vegetations, disturbance of the soil, or radical transformation of the quantity of daylight or humidity that get to the land. As of such circumstances, a comparatively little number of invasive species have intruded into innate areas (Alwarez et.al, 1980). These genuses have replicated speedily, shaping positions that prohibit virtually all other plant species...
