Introduction

The history of Christianity in Ireland has been written by his saints and martyrs. The saint is a sign for all the people of Grace Acts on men how to transform and save, and this is particularly significant as the saint had previously been a common man, a sinner. Ireland has historically stressed the importance of local saints and traditions, tied to a particular region or a clan.

Discussion

The term “invented tradition” means many things, but generally refers to a series of ritual practices, adjust openly or tacitly accepted, that are meant to inculcate certain values and norms of behavior, in continuity with the past. In fact, this past has been properly selected according to the invented tradition. The tradition is distinctly different from the usual rule that the so-called "traditional societies".

Paradoxically, the first nationalist demands were made by Irish Protestants, who had managed to create its own cultural identity. The Irish ruling class, the so-called Protestant Ascendancy, was made up of Protestant Anglo-Irish, descendants of the settlers of the Tudor period, English-speaking and Anglican. These were the first Protestants to demand that Ireland be treated equally with respect to Great Britain. In October 1791, in the wake of the French Revolution, which had aroused sympathy and support in Ireland, a young lawyer, an Anglican by birth, Theobald Wolfe Tone founded in Belfast. The movement of United Irishmen (Irish America) represented the origin of modern Irish nationalism and republicanism. The United Irishmen were designed to create legislation that would guarantee Ireland at all political and religious freedom. This made a rise in demand of invented traditions.

The secular humanism based on traditional "modern" rights beginning with the exaltation of man in the Renaissance and the Enlightenment by Descartes, it is confirmed in the liberal culture. The Christian is based instead on the traditional "old" that the school has set in medieval system. According to the Christian humanism instead, there is no entitlement to claim the individual self-respect that is given freely their own content, but pretend to act in the way due to the way as a reason, or order, or a universal law. It enhances the idea of moral justice that assigns to each individual right and in view of which struggle for perfection of human society.

During the seventeenth and eighteenth century, in fact, the number of people speaking the Irish declined rapidly. Since 1851 at least 30% of the population was able to speak and since 1871 the number fell to less than 20%. In the area around Dublin has always been the fulcrum of economic and social life, less than 5% of people knew the Gaelic

During the nineteenth century, the cultural nationalist movement was fostered by the revival of the identity Gaelic carried out by various intellectuals who also strove to revive the language and culture in everyday life.
