Introduction

Crime is increasing in the society today. There are many studies that show that, crime has increased in the society as the law enforcement agencies are not taking effective measures to stop criminal activities in the society. There are many law enforcement officers who do not use investigations plan especially for robbery cases. This is the reason why it is difficult for the officers to obtain accurate information. It is proven that an investigation plan has benefits for the public and law enforcement officers. In order to carry out the duties in an orderly manner, an investigation plan helps the officers. There are numerous numbers of officers who do not utilize investigation plan to analyze any illegal activity (Hess, 2009).

The subject of the investigation of the accused constitutes the offense and the circumstances of preparation for it, as well as covering up the traces of the crime. If a group committed a crime, then the investigation focuses on clarifying the individual organizer of the attack, all the accomplices, the role and responsibilities of each. Especially consider the question of pre-concealment of criminals, weapons offenses, stolen items and other forms of collaboration.

Steps in investigation plan

There are several steps involved in an investigation plan. That is an element and prediction to prove.

Prediction is the first step of investigation plan; it is the short statement which identifies the reason behind opening of the case.

Broadcast a detailed suspect description and update if more information becomes available

Note points of entry, exit, and flight

Note force used to enter a property or vehicle

Check glass for blood (DNA) or fingerprints

Check the location for other possible points of contact by the suspect — suspects have been known to eat, drink, and use the bathroom

Determine what was stolen or damaged

Be diligent at the crime scene and consider all possible evidentiary avenues

Recognize they usually only get one shot at processing a scene before it is tainted

Ensure all collected items of evidence (fingerprints, blood, clothing, tools, tool marks, shoe impressions, gas cans and accelerates food, food packaging) are submitted for analysis.
