A nuclear capable Iran is a threat to our national security and to the world community as a whole.

Paragraph on the issue:

A rogue nation such as Iran? with the capability to deliver nuclear munitions? is a threat to our national security and that of the world community as a whole. Many international analysts inside and outside Iran report that Tehran's objective has been to master the process of preparing nuclear fuel? fashioning a warhead and providing the means to deliver a nuclear warhead. This theory is backed by “a recent report from the International Atomic Energy Agency? which found that Iran had acquired sufficient information to be able to design and produce a workable nuclear weapon.” (1) The outcry of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? who believes the holocaust never happened? is proof positive of the absolute insanity of a nuclear empowered Iran. Can you imagine a world in which a person such as Ahmadinejad had the power of a nuclear arsenal at his hands?

My position on the issue:

I believe it is crucial to our national security and to the world community as a whole? that we keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of Iran.

I. Iran's ability to build nuclear weapons

Since its creation and usage in World War II? nuclear weapons have rendered war between nation-states who possess them less likely to use them - However? this statement is unlikely to remain legitimate if countries persist on developing such weapons? who have a different outlook towards human life or who are unfamiliar with their sheer destructive power. Recent threats against the United States and its allies by Iran? combined with its secretive nuclear weapons program? and opposition to negotiations on its nuclear program - validates ...
