Iron Man



Abstract

Iron Man was created in the real character of Howard Hughes. It was developed by Stan Lee for Marvel Comics. This comic was released in 1963. Many adaptations have been produced and developed in the form of movies, cartoons and animations. Video and computer games have also been released. Tony Stark happens to be a billionaire playboy and genius inventor. He is assisted by James Rhodes, a former military doctor, engineer, also his best friend. To make money, Tony Stark signs a contract with Chinese partners for the technologies they use at Stark. Stuck in a tragedy, he and Rhodey, are attacked by enemies. He is struck by shrapnel. Convinced that they will be killed when they have figured out how to re-bury the city, Tony and Rhodey secretly build an ex-armor to escape. Freud's theory in personality development defines three main phases. The three phases are id, ego and super ego. Erikson's theory of personality development discusses the image of man, scientific concept, intentions and scope. The theory of Iron Man relates with the Freud personality development theory. The character is shown to be developed in given years. How the situations and environment have played a role in the development of the nature and personality of Iron Man.

Tony Stark was born in Long Island, New York. At the age of 21, he inherited Stark Industries, after his parents (Howard Anthony Stark and Maria Collins Carbonell Stark) were killed in an alleged car accident. It is said that the character is based on the life of the American tycoon Howard Hughes of 30 years. It shares many features with it such as its great wealth, his charisma, intelligence, engineering genius and his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), this is one of the reasons that his genius is, in addition to the inheritance, he shares his father as a scientist and engineer Howard, brilliant(McLuhan, 2003).

There are several versions about the origin of the hero in the first, made a trip to Vietnam. In another version, he traveled to the Gulf War and another to Afghanistan after having developed a mini-transistor, which was intended to help U.S. troops. On this trip, while crossing the jungle, he was captured in an ambush by the Vietnamese General Wong Chu. In attempting to escape, he stepped on a landmine. A piece of shrapnel was embedded near his heart, leaving it to the brink of death, thus leaving few days of life. He tried to hide that information to force him to develop an arsenal of weapons to Vietnamese troops during the last days of life, Tony deduced what was happening. Beside him was another scientist, Yin Sen, who had been kidnapped.

They worked in secret a suit of armor that would keep Stark's heart working but at the same time give its wearer different skills. Tony Stark decided to use the armor to escape, but before he charged the batteries, he met Yin ...
