Islamic Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)

Like Judaism and Christianity, Islam is a monotheistic religion, based on the belief in one God. This religion was proclaimed by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in Arabia, in the 7th century A.D. He was a prophet just like Christ and Moses (Peace Be Upon Him). The term Islam virtually means "surrender". Within Islam the believer (called a Muslim) use the Arabic word for God, Allah, to refer to the creator of the world and of all life within it. Allah is viewed as the sole God; creator, sustained, and restorer of the world. The will of Allah, to which man must submit, is made known through the sacred scriptures, the Qur'an (Koran). Allah revealed the Qur'an to his messenger, Muhammad (PBUH). According to Islamic beliefs, Muhammad (PBUH) is the last of a series of prophets (including Adam, Noah, Jesus, and others). Muhammad (PBUH)'s message concurrently perfect and do away with the "revelations" attributed to earlier prophets. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the founder of the Islamic faith, and also the messenger of God. He is also known as the greatest prophet. (Massad 36-85)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in 570 AD in the city of Mecca in Arabia. He was born into a noble Quraish tribe, but at a young age, he became an orphan, and was raised by his uncle. At around 595 AD, a wealthy widow asked Muhammad (PBUH) to be the manager of her trading supplies to Syria. After Muhammad (PBUH) completed the task, she offered him marriage. Even though she was 15 years older than him, they married and had four daughters. (Spencer 16-24)

Yes, the danger besetting the Muslims and especially their youth is very grave indeed, for they stand between stagnation which they inherited from previous dark centuries, and the sweeping flood of western civilizations. We have no savoir, brethren, in this critical situation except Muhammad (PBUH), prayer and peace be on him, and we have no positive philosophy except the philosophy of the Qur'an. This is what we should understand, and this is what I call for on this holy night. (Husayn 36-59)

Muhammad (PBUH) was a very faithful and religious man, and he often meditated in caves in the mountains. He spent time thinking about the problems of Mecca, where religions were unimportant and the environment was unsafe. In the year 610 AD, at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, Muhammad (PBUH) heard a voice that said, “You are the messenger of God.” Later Muhammad (PBUH) decided that it was the Archangel Gabriel that sent him the message from God. Muhammad (PBUH) found many messages from God during his meditations, and he felt that it was his duty to spread them to everyone. If a Muslim youth studies the life of the prophet, prayer and peace be on him, and comes to know his character, and if he makes an analysis of western civilizations, an analysis devoid of passions and whims, he will be able to profit ...
