ISO 9126 AND E-LEARNING

Software quality evaluation model for web application of e-learning system

Abstract

ISO 9126 quality model is an assessment tool for determining software quality which has main attributes and sub attributes. In addition, there are some interrelations between ISO 9126 quality factors that must be considered during assessment. In this study, we will present a Fuzzy Group Analytical Network Process (FGANP) model for evaluating software packages in which some dependencies between criteria are considered. This ANP model will be based on the criteria and sub-criteria which were introduced by previous researchers. Also, interrelations between the factors will be considered from their suggestions. Therefore, for deriving preference ratio among decision makers and to reach a global argument among them, we will use Group Fuzzy Preference Programming (GFPP). Finally, we will show the general assessment techniques and some obtained results using our model to evaluate the three existing E-learning software which are employed in some universities.

Software quality evaluation model for web application of e-learning system

Background of the study

With the growing information revolution and the increasing amount of information and data transferred and exchanged in the world, it became impossible for any individual, that movie - in full - in any branch of science, and with the widespread use of the Internet and enjoy its features, appeared online for the first time in the mid-nineties as a mediator of communication between learner and teacher, has led to the emergence of distance learning via the Internet, and virtual universities Virtual Universities, schools and the default Virtual Schools, and Virtual Classroom Virtual Classrooms, and thus began to take shape the concept of learning based on the internet as a new model of distance learning and a form of e-learning (Bevan, 1999).

It would have been the most important main objectives of distance learning - in its various forms over many centuries - providing the means for an educational alternative for those students who live in distant places, or shift their circumstances without attendance in formal education, starting from the courses by correspondence and through the radio, radio and audio conferencing and television education to decisions of multimedia-based computer, and the end of the courses are online. There are still big differences in the produced material and a lack of an effective e-learning evaluation quality model.

At least to the best of our knowledge no prior study exits specifically on evaluation method of e-learning from developers view point. In this regard this study intends to contribute (Jackson, 2002).
