Introduction

The concept of the Baroque has been used to refer to the seventeenth century European culture and part of the eighteenth century. This style is very difficult to identify because it uses similar forms as above, the Renaissance. You could say that Michelangelo is almost responsible for the novelty. Baroque was the term used by critics who fought against these new trends. Among the general characteristics of Baroque art is its sense of motion, energy and tension. Strong contrasts of light and shadow enhance the scenic effects of many paintings, sculptures and architectural works. An intense spirituality appears frequently in scenes of ecstasy, martyrdom and miraculous occurrences. The implication of great spaces is common in Baroque painting and sculpture, both in the Renaissance and in the Baroque painters in his work always tried to correct representation of space and perspective. Naturalism is another essential feature of Baroque art, the figures are not represented in the tables as mere stereotypes, but on an individual basis, with its own personality.
