Introduction

The source of juvenile corrections in the United States goes, back at least to the unfastening of the New York House of Refuge in 1825. This house of refuge was established to rendezvous the same kinds of needs the Juvenile Justice System of today tries to rendezvous, encompassing avoidance of harsh lawless individual penalties for regrettable young children, segregating 'pre-delinquent' young children from hardened delinquents, supplying 'proper' lesson, ethical, political, and social values and function models for deprived young children, and healing such young children as victims other than offenders. The prime function of the juvenile court was not to establish guilt but rather to rehabilitate youthful offenders by eradicating the difficulty causing the juvenile to enlist in delinquent behavior.

The function of the juvenile court system is to take a somewhat fatherly and shielding mind-set in the direction of young children, if to offer humanitarian assistance or parental punishment. Juvenile court was mainly established although by a desire to bypass prisons for young children by establishing special juvenile court which would not send young children to prison. The juvenile court is also used to somewhat scare the juvenile lawbreaker with its dark timber atmosphere and flags to represent how living the government is. The courts major function although is to find the best rehabilitation procedure for that individual. Should it be community service, a curfew or counseling, these are just a couple of options the court has in sentencing a juvenile offender

Juvenile must not be endeavored as adult

Moving away from the customary philosophy of the juvenile justice system by mechanically healing certain juveniles as adults increases their propensity for misdeed and increases the risk to society. Studies show that juveniles endeavored as adults normally manage not obtain longer or more severe sentences than those juveniles endeavored in the juvenile court. The studies also suggest that juveniles endeavored as adults have a higher rate of recidivism than those juveniles with like profiles who are ascribed with similar offenses and endeavored in the juvenile justice system. The higher rate of recidivism for juveniles endeavored as adults is probable the result of their being released into society undereducated, un-socialized, and unemployable and in their physical prime. In other words, the mature individual lawless individual system sets juveniles up for malfunction by producing them into the very form of what we wish to avoid. Therefore, if one really values public safety, he/she should not support self-acting transfers to mature individual court for certain juveniles because they will finally come back to society and, in most cases, to crime
