Introduction of Company

Kaba-PC is a community based computer recycling Project Company. This company is situated in Burley, Leeds. It was started in 2010 and in a very short period of time it has got recognition and many legal statuses. Kaba-PC I a registered company and it has banks with special accounts for Community Interest Companies and charities. It means that Kaba-PC is a non-profit organization fundamentally. They pay their expenses and salaries to their employees but they use all their revenues for community based aims and they do not have any shareholders (Kaba-PC).

Three Aims of Kaba

There are three main aims of Kaba-PC which are as follows:

To give support to communities

To reduce waste

To promote

To give Support to Communities

They give support to local communities and other by giving them IT equipments at affordable rates; they provide free internet access, give various opportunities to get trainings and work experience and provide them with community space. They also provide an environment in which volunteers can freely work and gain experience. Volunteers get the opportunity to freely express their ideas and develop new and innovative methods to help the company become autonomous (Kaba-PC).

To Reduce Waste

Second core aim of Kaba-PC is to reduce waste through different ways. They reduce waste by repairing damage and broken things, reuse old things and recycle used things so that they can be used again.

To Promote

Kaba-PC wants to become Autonomy Company, they want to promote community building and promote co-operative working environment.

 Legal Charity

Kaba-PC is not a legal charity and they work for public interest. Kaba-PC works as a functional business and try to provide support by charity whenever necessarily. They also hold WEEE verification. They have Environment Agency License for recycling. This means that people can give them their electronic products and they will dispose them through proper disposing methods (Kaba-PC).

Work Based Learning Experience

In Kaba-PC worked as a Junior IT Technician. As an IT technician all computer related tasks were assigned to me. Many daily IT related problems were assigned to me which includes on-board mouse, upgrading RAM, making of faulty USB ports, recovering of data, correcting boot up error messages, connecting wireless connections, rebooting systems, resetting passwords and many more system related issues. I was not involved in big projects as during my volunteer ship time they were not conducting any bigger projects in IT field (BAMA, 2009).

Technical Skills required at Work

Technical skills are that knowledge and abilities which are needed to accomplish various tasks which are related to mathematical, scientific, and engineering and computer related field (Investopedia). As technician there are various technical things which should be known from before in order to learn more technical skills. Before doing volunteer ship at Kaba-PC I had very little technical skills. I only knew how to upgrade RAM and some knowledge about handling errors. After this volunteer ship I was able to learn various technical skills which included recovering of data, laptop windows 7 upgrade, rebooting and solving various booting errors.
