Language and Cognition

Language is the air we breathe; it is most of the times taken for granted. Language is complex whose complexity is overlooked frequently, but cognitive psychology has open the minds of human beings to the fact that language if exclusively human, thus to better understand the language (Willingham, 2007). Cognitive psychology seeks to understand and explain how human beings acquire, comprehend, and produce language. Five criteria must be met by language; structured, arbitrary, dynamic, generative, and communicative. Language should be definable structure in its words, sentences, phonemes, and texts.

Language and Lexicon

There are multiple definitions, which was launched on the language, a behavior humanely. It is the format of the instructions and signals, sounds and words on the ordinary meaning. Our basic mean of communication among species and interspecies is through language. Language enables us to communicate with each other, our thoughts and feelings, ideas and concepts, likes, and dislikes, fears, dreams and affirmations. Given our need to communicate, language comes in many forms based on species and its requirements. Babies talk the baby talk and babble; there are no words yet, but they are starting to communicate (Richerson, 2005).

The human language is based on the ability of humans to communicate through signs. Mainly we do using the linguistic sign. Still, there are different types of language. Human language can be studied in terms of its development from two complementary viewpoints: the ontogeny, which refers to the process of language acquisition by human beings, and phylogeny. The formal languages ??are artificial constructs human, used in mathematical and other formal disciplines, including programming languages.
