Leader

An exemplary leader is someone who is willing to serve than to be served. The leader should be creative and be a very talented moderator. He should be motivated to take his or her organization to the next level by using strengths that he possesses and eliminating weaknesses. There were a lot of leaders born in the last century, and before. Some of them tend to have a great impact on our societies and on our minds. Two of them would be Oprah Winfrey and US president Barack Obama.

Leader: Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is known all over the world as the most influential person in the world. Oprah Gail Winfrey Oprah commonly called, was born on 29 January 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She is a presenter and producer American television, literary critic and editor of magazines. She is best known for her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show has won several awards and became the most watched program in television history until its final episode May 25, 2011. Oprah is also an actress she was nominated for Oscars. She was ranked personality Afro-American's richest personality in the twentieth century, and is the only billionaire black in the world. According to the magazine Forbes is the second capital of the entertainment industry. Furthermore, she is the chairman of Harpo group of companies. All the success that she has achieved makes her eligible for our leadership criteria. (Brands, 2001)

Oprah has three leadership styles: principles, transformative, and reflective. The first quality can be explained as principled because Winfrey's leadership was all about improving society by having an impact on individuals. How she expresses her leadership is the second quality this is done by having a reflective approach on one's life for implementing any plan. The third leadership quality that can be said “Transforming leadership” differs from more common “transactional leadership,” by emphasizing radical if not revolutionary change. Oprah possesses the charismatic leadership style which is similar to transformational leadership style. Such leader believes in herself, inspires others, highly visible, and most importantly it is not necessary that they lead from the front. As we can see from her family background, she was not rich and lived a terrible childhood life she brought herself up to this position on her own abilities. Visionary leaders transmit energy to people, giving them a new sense of hope and confidence in achieving the vision. Television host Oprah Winfrey helps her guests believe in themselves and work to create a better world.

Her strengths are her communication and influential skills, determination, and belief in herself. It is really hard to figure out the weaknesses of such a strong leader, but overall her weakness could be identified as her non healthy attitude towards food as she eats a lot, and she never reads her script before the show from which she has suffered once.
