Introduction

In case of Gene One ,The theory and practice of leadership varies according to the context in which it occurs. The chief executives of corporations do not exercise authority and influence in the same ways as do the leaders of social movements or the heads of governments. Nonetheless, leaders in all walks of life, including those who do not hold formal positions of authority, often use methods and display competencies that have shared foundations and parallel applications across different environments. One such competency of leadership is strategic thinking. These connections become especially clear if we consider leadership to be a relational process in which certain groups and individuals influence others to pursue shared values in response to change and conflict (Bruner, 2002).

Strategic thinking has its conceptual roots in the ancient world, especially in the strategies used by military leaders, such as Alexander the Great, to organize and execute a plan of battle (Quinn, 2003).

For the past several decades, the most visible, widespread, systematic, and formal examples of strategic thinking as a form of leadership have appeared in the world of organizations, especially in business(Bruner, 2002). The practices of strategic thinking, strategic decision making, and strategic planning have become systematized into an applied discipline of management and leadership. The subject has developed a vast literature of theory and practice, and “strategy” has become one of the primary disciplines in virtually every school for the study of management, including those that focus on the work of government and nonprofit organizations as Chapter 88, “Strategic Planning for Advocacy” does. As is usually the case with many of the methods of leadership, there also has been a migration of the major motifs of strategic thinking across boundaries.
