Introduction

Human nature is the most complex thing. It is difficult to understand the nature of a human being and what is even more difficult is managing behavior of human beings. Managing the behavior of personnel is an arduous task. For smooth and lucrative operation of business it is so vital for an organization to manage behavior of its personnel. In order to accomplish this purpose organizations form and rely on their leaders. These are the leaders who lead and provide direction to the subordinates. Leadership is a phenomenon that is very broad. Practicing leadership is a studious thing as it involves a lot of responsibilities. It involves scores of issues. One of the issues that this paper aims to discuss is role of emotional intelligence in leadership.

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to control and express emotions. An emotional intelligent leader is capable of not only controlling his or her own emotions but he or she has to deal with the emotions of others. When employees in an organization come from variegated backgrounds for the fulfillment and achievement of unified goals then there is likelihood that different facets would affect their work and emotions and sentiments play an important part in that. In order to avoid any circumstances and to avoid hazels it is indispensible for a leader to also to deal with the emotions and feelings of the employees (Barbuto, John and Burbach, 2006). For this it is necessary that a leader must be aware of emotional intelligence. A leader who is emotionally intelligent possesses an added advantage of leading people.
