Critical concepts are those vital ideas that are imperative for the understanding of an overall lesson (Swan, 2003). Individuals who fail to understand those critically essentials concepts during their learning experience develop erroneous or superficial understanding regarding the topic. For example in science class the student studying about evolution should have core understanding and network of comprehensive philosophies regarding survival of the fittest theory. Students might find difficulty in mastering those concepts and applying them in their work.
