Lesson Plan

Teacher: Mr. Roger John

Grade: X

Subject: Introduction to Sociology

Learner Characteristics: A lesson plan is based on several developmental processes such as the balance between teacher and learner activity. It also covers the needs of the learning material for individuals as well for the groups. The learners are motivated to participate because they have a direct interactive contact with the instructor. Besides, it gives the best view of the leaner and teacher at the same time.

Objective: The aim of this course is to understand the existence of various cultures in a society.

Objective

The objective of this lesson plan is to help the students to:

Understand the existence of various cultures in a society.

Understand the approaches of teaching in specialist area.

Demonstrate examples of the cross cultural issues in education.

Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions on Culture.

Anticipatory Set

The first step towards creating optimal tolerance levels in students is to compel them to stretch and expand their understanding and awareness levels, and forming take contemporary perspectives; is to increase the possibilities of interaction between students belonging to different backgrounds. The second step is to encourage an atmosphere where individual differences are openly discussed and hence appreciated. The essence of this exercise is to inculcate the notion amongst students that differences on the basis of culture, race and ethnicity resembles beauty and in turn defines an individual (Comparing Thinking Skill Models, 2008).

Teacher Input

The economic growth of a society inherently depends on the development of human resources of that nation. The skill and competency level of manpower is in turn defined by the level of training and education imparted through the educational system. Therefore, for this purpose the presence and development of highly qualified teachers is an absolute requirement; however an individual can only become an exemplary teacher if he or she acquires the requisite competencies themselves.

In order to prepare good teachers, a well integrated and effectively coordinated educational plan is the need of time. It is important to note that educational plans are devised on a holistic or macro level, but success is only achieved when a macro plan is followed by micro planning and execution. The paper identifies what it means to be an effective teacher in light of the studied lesson plan (Madeline Hunter's ITIP model for direct instruction, 2012).
