Ligaments

Ligament is a reinforcing band structure of filamentous connective tissue. Ligaments are related to joints. Ligament connects bones to other bones in the formation of a joint, they do not associate muscles with bones. Elasticity varies depending on the localization and distribution of collagen / elastic threads. For example, increases spine portion elastic fibers and thus ligament elasticity. There are many types of ligament in bone. Some are present in all vertebrates, while others are specific for mammals. Ligament often serve a particular purpose in the body, linking bones or other structures together, but some are only vestigial remnants of body parts that were needed in fetal development, and has since become unnecessary. The types of ligaments are articular, peritoneal and fetal remnant (Yasuda, Tomita, Yamazaki, Minami, & Tohyama, 2004, pp.870-880).

To the problems that can cause a ligament strain, to better understand it's important to know that it is the task of the tapes, which run on the outside of the joints, is to consolidate this and to perform their movements and narrow. The strips are built up by the cells of the connective tissue, and they are supplied via the blood vessels which are located in the transition zone between the bone and ligaments. So the tapes can absorb the forces acting on them, they are arranged in a wave shape. It is now an overstretching of a band, whose uniform fiber arrangement is disrupted by the extreme loads. Because of the importance of the bands for the stability and motion control of the joints, ligaments requiring strains and other ligament injuries, a reduction of the training or even a multi-week exposure of the sports program (Zheng, & Mak, 1999, pp.330-339).

Articular ligaments

Articular ligaments, also known as true ligaments are the most common type of ligaments in the body. They are made of fibrous tissue and they serve in touch legs. These ligaments are present in every joint in the skeleton. Most of these ligaments serve as single contacts, which causes the shape of the connected legs and related muscles to determine the direction and movement (Yasuda, Tomita, Yamazaki, Minami, & Tohyama, 2004, pp.870-880), but some of these articulations limit or prevent specific movements (Hanson, & Sonesson, 1994, pp.1214-1246).
