Vogue magazine is a fortnightly published lifestyle magazine aimed at teenage and pre teen girls aged around 11 to 14. The main content of this magazine is articles and interviews on and with celebrities, posters, quizzes, real life stories, cringes, fashion advice, beauty tips and competitions. (Baldry 2006:15-20)

The brand identity of this magazine is a girly innocent, teenage magazine that conforms to dominant ideology. It promotes what is popular at the time and is a commercial magazine to appeal to the masses. The target audience of Vogue magazine are pre teen and teenage girls aged 11 to 14 (Bateman 2008:14-20). They would be around a d on the jicnar scale and would be hedonists and post modernists. This magazine appeals to audience by: (Forcevilic 2009:74-85)

The colours used on the front cover of this magazine are pinks, purples and whites. They have kept a basic colour scheme to make it seem more sophisticated to attract the older end of the target audience. The chosen colours have connotations of being girly, young and innocent. This appeals to the target audience because generally these are the kind of colours they like and are attracted to. (Goodman 1996:65-74)

Font. The font used on the cover of this magazine is a sans serif font which has the connotations of simple, basic and not as sophisticated as a serif font. It also makes the text easier to read which appeals to the target audience because not all girls that age like to read and are interested in reading so anything that makes it look more appealing is a bonus.

The coverlines have also been put in reversed out boxes. This makes the cover lines stand out and catch the readers eye. They also highlight the main stories and the points of interest in the magazine. A few of the cover lines also have images with them, on these ones the colour of the box behind the text is continued to around the image, giving the cover consistency. (Jewitt 2009:15-20)

The images used on this front cover are all of musicians apart from one which is of a model. The images are kept quite simple and the layout is kept basic and formal with the images in boxes and splashes. This gives it quite a sophisticated look compared to the other two magazines where the content and splashes were all over the place in quite a messy fashion. The main image on this cover is a mid length close up, taken from a photo shoot of Gwen Stefani. The white background helps the text and the image to stand out more, making it look more attractive and easy to read. (Kress 2001:95-115)
