The paper aims to describe one of the most famous and well recognized hyperstore, Carrefour. Information systems management is now a priority for companies who wish to be more competitive. It is also difficult to manage a modern business without knowing the basic principles of information systems. Information systems management allows the company to be more competitive and effective response to the external environment, in addition to providing added value. We cannot think of running a business major, while providing quality products and services, without having adequate information system.

Organization Selected

The selected company for this paper is 'Carrefour'. The company is one of the largest hypermarket chain and is headquartered in France. The company belongs to retail business group. Carrefour is the second largest retail group considering the revenue and also the third largest in terms of profit. The main operations of Carrefour are in Europe, UAE, Saudi Arab, China, Brazil, and Argentina. According to the size the company is recognized as a large sized organization because it contains more than 100 employees. Carrefour Subsidiaries owned 50/50 with wholesalers or regional companies such as France Docks, Docks de Nevers, Comptoirs Modernes, Guyenne ET Gascogne, etc.Participations in foreign companies included Belgium, Hypermarket located in Switzerland and Wheatsheaff in Britain. It also has many shops in Asia and North Africa as well. The paper also attempts to highlight the challenges faced by Carrefour in the highly competitive market that it operates in.
