Introduction

The police play different roles, like frequently play the role of first respondents, medical, religious counselor, peace makers, negotiators and diplomats. It is your task is to maintain, but often a unthankful, ungratifying, questioned and criticized, not only from the large population, also by the heads of the agencies themselves. For the police throughout the country, the leadership is suffering from several issues and need to take actions as soon as possible (Carswell, 2002). The paper gives a brief overview of the leadership style in the law enforcement agencies, especially in the police force.

Discussion

The police force is the main agency which interacts with different people as direct respondents. Their task is to maintain this thing, but often a unthankful, ungratifying, questioned and criticized, not only from the large population, also by the heads of the agencies themselves. In the police throughout the country, the leadership has hit a wall and in desperate need of repair (Carswell, 2002).

The paper examines two assumptions contradict each other about the conduct of law and order situation. The first is about the use of agencies which are responsible for law enforcement. Paramilitary, hierarchical top-bottom management style, which can influence, negatively on this leadership style for employee morale, productivity and motivation, which in subsequent impact on the parties, or public citizens about officers disgruntled. Leaders believe this structure that top-bottom direction and technique is to control, just not to stop crime, at the same time employ them to defeat officers armed with weapons (Freedman, 2000). The leaders are normally very specific to traditions in nature, and usually feel difficulty for change. They perform things in a manner that they are doing in the past and do not expect any questions from the top management. The style set a controlled series of command and control for decision making structure at the top level. Agents, who work at the lower level remain there and receive orders (Freedman, 2000).
