Unit-7

Discussion Question One:

Part-1:

The sampling technique that I would recommend for the study is a random sampling technique. Specially, the stratified random sampling method would be the most appropriate. As to determine the level of satisfied consumers, one would first divide its sample (current users of shampoo) into distinct subgroups. So as, to analyze the level of satisfaction between different set of people who expect different levels of satisfaction after consuming a product.

Part-2:

In order to study the level of consumers satisfied with the product (shampoo), the stratified sampling method will be used. In this sample, each element can only belong to a stratus (Levy & Lemeshow, 2011). In each stratus, each individual has the same probability of the sample. As this method will allow the manufacturer of shampoo product, to study the results that would be stratified into subgroups. The subgroups will be made on the basis of gender and income level. The reason behind stratifying the population on the basis of gender is to identify whether the shampoo works better on male hair or female hair, as this will allow the manufacturer to produce/improve the shampoo by testing it on both genders' hair. Secondly, the reason behind stratifying the sample on the basis on income group is to determine whether people who earn more and wish to use quality shampoo satisfied with the shampoo or not. Also, people belonging to low income groups who spend more on personal hygiene satisfied with the shampoo or not.

Discussion Question Two:

Part-1:

In order to select a sample of respondents to answer the question of starting salary offers, we would first choose the population employed in the same industry as ours, as this would allow comparing the respondents that are working in the same industry. Furthermore, respondents working on different positions would not be compared as people at different positions receive different starting salaries.

Part-2:

Non-sampling errors are part of the total error that can arise from doing a statistical analysis. The remainder of the total error arises from sampling error. Unlike sampling-error, increasing the sample size will not have any effect on reducing non-sampling error. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to eliminate non-sampling errors entirely (Lessler & Kalsbeek, 1992). This error could occur as different people despite working on the same position could posses different level of experience (e.g. internships, freelance, etc) due do which their starting salaries might differ. Therefore, to reduce this error interviewee would have to ask for experience levels of respondents before conducting the survey.Unit-8
