Introduction

The information about the history of one's cultural or racial group could be a little bit difficult to understand. Nevertheless, once the readers get the whole idea, it becomes an extremely interesting topic. Of course, it takes more than just reading to comprehend African American history. However, the black people were discriminated extremely badly treated and at one point, were not even recognized as human beings. In addition to that, they had leaders and strong African American people fought for social justice until they turned in their graves. The man about whom this paper is written is the father of the civil rights movement. He goes by the name of Martin Luther King Junior, also known as “Doctor King.” Dr. King was part of the social movement that helped change, influence, and structure the society that the black people are having in USA.

Martin Luther King Jr. was an extraordinarily outspoken spiritual man who only could dream that life would get better. He had a strong belief that the sufferings of black people will finish one day and will certainly have a better future. This is the reason why he presented the famous speech which stated “I Have a Dream”. However, only parts of his dream came true n this paper, Dr. King illustrated the significant points of how he draw upon topics such as social justice, constitutional law, and the African American struggle. In Washington DC, August 28, 1963, Dr. King organized a massive March, which led to him being arrested and jailed. In addition, he had all types of people marching with him like black organizers, people who wanted jobs, people who wanted freedom, and representatives from every side. The speech “I Have a Dream” was shown on national television networks It was known as one of the most significant and influential speeches in history. Therefore, he goes into his speech by saying “Five score year ago, a great American in whose symbolic shadow we wanted today signed the Emancipation Proclamation.” When he said this statement, what he meant was that the document that was signed hundred years ago which had slaves believing that their injustice and capacity were long gone, did not have beneficial results. Dr. King then goes on by mentioning that the Negro is still not free. Blacks were still being terribly discriminated against everywhere. (Carson, 1998)

The speech was given to show the world that colored people had had enough and to dramatize the shameful conditions stated in the speech as well. So, in effect people had the laws a long time ago against this type of discrimination, but they were not enforced properly.
