Channel Viewed

The channel I have selected for this paper is Star Movies. The channel was viewed when the movie 'Twilight: The Saga' was aired. The advertisements shown during the movie were targeted towards the youth and young generation. The advertisements included soft drinks, cell phones, watches, and other movies which will be broadcasted later by the channel, food items such as instant dishes, snacks, feminine products, axe effect (for men). The food items shown were McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Dominos and instant noodles. The advertisements targeted for ladies and women are usually make-up line like L'Oreal, Maybelline and other products are advertised such as lip loss, lipsticks, and nail polishes. Few advertisements are also run to target the women related to foot wear and clothing. The brands showcase their highlighted products in the advertisements.

Commercial pattern

Yes, there is a pattern of commercials which run on the channel on certain timings. As the major population is working people, therefore the main advertisements and high ratings are run in the prime time, i.e. the night time which is usually after 8pm onwards. For the morning time, majority of the audience and viewers are women and housewives. Therefore, the advertisements are related to kitchen items, crockery, food, and for babies such as diapers, pampers, and babies' daily usage items like bathing and clothing items. The advertisements are also shown which offer sales on products, discount and grocery items. Usually, women tend to do the grocery. Afternoon time and evening time has children as the majority viewership. They are targeted for things like chocolate, school and college materials, energy drinks, snacks, soft drinks, junk food and games. After that, the prime time starts.
